Fatal house fire in Newcastle

A woman has died following a house fire in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Turin Road in Newcastle shortly after 1.30am. An ambulance and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When ambulance crews arrived at the scene the house was well ablaze.

“Firefighters entered the property and managed to get the woman out, taking her outside to waiting ambulance staff.

“The woman was in cardiac arrest and crews immediately began CPR.

“However, unfortunately it soon became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“There were no other patients from the fire.”
